Davis Released Mugshot Record Status
A booking photograph is an identification image created during the arrest and intake process. It belongs to that custody episode. Release from Davis County Correctional Facility does not erase the underlying record, but it does remove the person from a roster that covers only current care and custody. The sheriff can retain the image even though no public photo appears online.
Utah does not make every sheriff-held photograph automatically available. GRAMA classifies records as public, private, controlled, protected, or otherwise restricted. Booking photos also have a specific rule in Utah Code § 17-72-802. A requester must sign the required statement, and a sheriff may withhold a protected image. Davis County's own roster describes inmate photographs as protected and directs requests to the records process.
The photo is not a case result. It does not show whether a charge was dismissed, reduced, proved, or expunged. It also cannot show whether the person bonded out, completed a commitment, transferred, entered supervision, or remains in another agency's custody. Pair the image with the sheriff release record and the correct court file.
Davis Released Mugshot Sources
Each channel has a narrow role. The Davis sheriff holds the county booking record. UDC controls state-prison identification photos. Courts control filed exhibits under court access rules. News organizations may publish event-specific images, while commercial pages may preserve stale copies without correcting the associated status.
| Channel | Has a photo? | How to access it |
|---|---|---|
| Davis sheriff roster | No public booking photo | The current roster uses a generic placeholder |
| Davis sheriff records | Possibly | Request the photo separately through GRAMA and sign the required affirmation |
| Sheriff mobile app | None verified | No official Davis release or mugshot app was found |
| UDC records | Possibly for state custody | Use UDC media or GRAMA for the distinct prison image |
| Utah court record | Only if publicly filed | Review the proper case, not a photo search |
| Official releases or news | Sometimes | Look for a specific event, then verify status independently |
| Commercial aggregators | Sometimes | No links are provided because images may be stale or inaccurate |
VINELink is useful for a selected person's custody status or notices when a contributing agency supplies data. The research did not verify a Davis County VINELink photo field, so it should not be promised as a photo source. Likewise, Utah Courts Xchange is a case-record service, not a mugshot gallery.
Request Davis County Booking Photos
Use the Davis County public records page or its linked NextRequest portal. Ask for the booking photograph as a separate record. Include the full booked name, known name number or booking number, and an approximate booking date. This identifies the right custody episode and reduces the risk of joining two people with the same name.
- Gather the exact booked name, booking date, name number, and arresting agency from a prior roster detail, court notice, or other reliable record.
- Create a focused county request for the booking photograph tied to that one episode. Do not ask staff to create a new report or narrative.
- Complete the requester contact fields required by GRAMA and sign the booking-photo affirmation required under Utah law.
- State that unrelated restricted material may be redacted and ask the office to cite the classification for any denial.
- Wait for the response or cost estimate, then use the listed appeal path if the record is denied and review is appropriate.
Utah Code § 63G-2-204 sets the general request and response framework. The ordinary deadline is as soon as reasonably possible and no later than ten business days. A qualifying public-benefit expedited request can use a shorter period, while extraordinary circumstances can extend the response time. The Davis sheriff publishes a police-report fee and per-page amount, but those figures should not be assumed to govern every booking-photo request. The responding office should quote the actual charge.
The captured Davis County request screen shows the official county route for submitting a record request.
The portal is the access channel, not a promise of disclosure. The county still reviews whether the image exists and which Utah classification applies.
Note: Ask for the photograph separately from the release record because Utah applies a specific county-sheriff booking-photo rule.
Why Davis Mugshots Stay Blank
The Davis County inmate roster replaces booking images with a generic placeholder. Its notice points to an older code citation, former § 17-22-30. The current county booking-photo rule was recodified at § 17-72-802. The older citation on a local page does not change the present code location.
A blank public slot reflects publication and access policy. It does not prove that intake staff took no image or that the county destroyed one. The distinction matters after release because a person will no longer have a current roster row at all. A direct, episode-specific request is the supported way to ask whether the retained image can be released.
County and state photographs are also different records. If a Davis County case later led to UDC incarceration, a state prison identification image belongs to UDC's media or GRAMA process. It should not be described as the county booking photo, even when both images depict the same person.
Davis Mugshot Apps and Roster
No official Davis County sheriff mobile app was verified for inmate photos, release history, or recent releases. NCIC is a communications service. InmateCanteen supports payments and bail functions. Neither becomes an official photo archive just because it is linked from corrections information.
The absence is a substantive finding. Readers should not be sent to an unrelated app with the claim that it shows a Davis booking photo. The sheriff roster itself provides current identity and charge details but uses the placeholder. A person who disappears from it may have been released or transferred, so the photo question and custody question must be answered through separate records.
The sheriff FAQ capture documents Davis County's GRAMA and property guidance rather than a hidden mobile photo feature.
This official page supports the county records route. It does not create a released-inmate photo feed or an app-only gallery.
Davis Release Photos Beyond Jail
A public court file may contain an exhibit or filed document with an image, but Xchange is not a photo search. Sealed, expunged, private, and juvenile matters are excluded from ordinary public access. Use the booking record's arresting agency and case number to identify the right court. Then inspect the actual docket and filed documents instead of assuming the photo must appear.
An official sheriff release or reputable local report may publish an identification image when an event is newsworthy. That is event-specific coverage, not a complete list of Davis County releases. Publication can also outlast the custody episode. Check the date, caption, originating agency, and later court outcome before connecting an old image to a current status.
Commercial mugshot publishers and data aggregators may retain copies that are stale, mislabeled, or detached from later case changes. They receive no outbound links here and should not be treated as official sources. No image, wherever found, proves the person remains in jail or establishes the final disposition.
Davis Mugshot Removal and Expungement
Expungement restricts ordinary public access to a qualifying case; it does not always mean every underlying record was physically destroyed. Utah Courts says an expunged case is removed from Xchange, while the subject may see a generic expunged notation in MyCase. Utah law changed in 2026, so the current court guide and Title 77, Chapter 40a should control instead of an older waiting-period chart.
Section 17-72-802 also regulates publish-for-pay use of county booking photos. It bars a sheriff from providing a photograph for that use, requires a signed requester statement, and creates removal or destruction duties and remedies for covered publishers. The rule includes stronger treatment for cases that were not prosecuted, ended in acquittal, or were expunged, vacated, or pardoned. It does not make a commercial removal service the right route.
For an official Davis County source, send the relevant order and a precise request to the office maintaining the image. For a court record, follow the current Utah Courts process. For UDC material, contact UDC rather than the county. A private publisher controls its own copy, subject to applicable law; an official agency cannot edit a third party's page.
Verify Davis Released Mugshot Identity
Start with the booked name and episode number. Compare the arresting agency, booking date, court case, and facility. Multiple surnames, aliases, nicknames, and spelling differences can split records. A similar age or face is not enough to merge two people. When a photo comes from news or a nonofficial source, trace it back to the named agency and date.
- Booking photo
- The county identification image tied to an arrest and jail intake.
- Prison photo
- A separate identification record created or held by UDC after state commitment.
- Release record
- The sheriff record showing when county custody ended and whether another agency received the person.
- Expungement
- A legal process that restricts ordinary public access to qualifying records.
A match should also be checked against the right date. One person can have more than one Davis County booking, and one image may be copied long after its original episode. The release record should carry the same name number or booking number, while the court case should identify the matching arrest and charge sequence. If those links do not agree, stop before attaching the photograph to the later event.
The Released Last 24 Hours process explains why the live roster cannot establish a same-day exit. For the full custody and court path, the Davis County released inmate search separates county release, state supervision, federal history, and court disposition.
Note: Confirm identity, custody event, and court outcome separately because a booking photo proves none of them by itself.
